THE NATIONAL STATE BANK

The National State Bank building, designed by architect Cass Gilbert in 1912, was restored by Hanini Group in 2014. Formerly Hotel Indigo, it featured exposed brick, stunning windows, and unique loft-style rooms that reflected the neighborhood's history of innovation, including ties to Thomas Edison and Prudential Financial. Once a popular spot for visitors to the Prudential Center and New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the building now symbolizes Newark's rich past and bright future.
